In December Shantytown launched Golden Prospects; Chinese on

the West Coast of New Zealand, an important addition to both the

story of the West Coast and the history of Chinese in New Zealand.

This fascinating and highly readable book is rich in personal stories,

humorous anecdotes and details the sometimes turbulent interaction
